Mediation Services
A Mediator must understand and be able to manage both the legal
issues and the practical or personal implications that arise when parties seek to settle their
lawsuit. In doing so, a Mediator must bring to the table a sound knowledge of the law, effective
communication and facilitation skills, and an ability to generate options for settlement that will
enable the parties to achieve a productive resolution of their dispute.
Peter Chauvin possesses those skills. Peter practiced as an employment lawyer for 19 years. In 2004
Peter was appointed as a Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. At that time he also
commenced his practice as a private Mediator and Arbitrator.
Peter has mediated hundreds of law suits. Peter's mediation practice pertains to wrongful dismissal
suits, grievances, labour arbitrations, human rights, employment standards, occupational health and
safety, workers compensation and pay equity.
Peter has proven and effective mediation skills. Peter understands the interests of employees and
employers. In view of this, Peter is able to resolve complex employment law disputes in an
efficient, effective and productive manner.
